In paediatric practice, Amanda works closely with children, young people, families, and educators to support participation in play, learning, self-care, school, and community life. Her paediatric experience spans inpatient neurorehabilitation, schools, and community/private practice settings, allowing her to draw on a wide range of approaches to meet each child’s unique needs. She helps children build skills across developmental and physical domains, sensory processing, attention and regulation, and motor abilities, supporting meaningful engagement in daily life. In school and educational settings, Amanda has extensive experience with seating and equipment provision, as well as low- and high-tech AAC systems, helping children access learning and communicate effectively. She frequently uses sensory-informed strategies, goal-directed therapy, Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC), and the Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach to address both home and school-based goals. Education and collaboration are central to her work as she partners with families, carers, and school staff to understand each child’s strengths and challenges, and implement practical strategies that promote participation, independence, and confidence.Â
Across all settings, Amanda is known for being approachable, reliable, and highly skilled. She takes the time to listen, build trust, and create a safe, respectful environment where clients, families, and colleagues feel understood and actively involved. She produces clear, detailed reports that guide care, inform multidisciplinary teams, and keep clients’ goals at the centre.
Alongside clinical practice, Amanda has held leadership and operational management roles, which have included provision of supervision and professional development. She has taught undergraduate occupational therapists as a University Associate Lecturer , fostering reflective, evidence-informed, and person-centred practice. Amanda is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a candidate for a Master of Research, reflecting her commitment to integrating research into clinical practice.
