Zoe is an experienced Occupational Therapist who is motivated to provide high quality therapy to children and young people. In addition to her work with The OT Centre, Zoe practices at the National Star College, a leading specialist college for young adults with complex physical and learning disabilities. She has previously worked within a Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service providing complex assessments and reports for parents, schools and paediatricians. Zoe has a passion for promoting Occupational Therapy and sharing knowledge with others, through training for multi-disciplinary teams and guest lecturing at Coventry University to undergraduates.
Zoe has years of experience in effectively assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating client-centred therapy programmes for clients with a range of disabilities including ASD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Sensory Processing Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsy. Zoe strives to make all therapeutic input creative and meaningful to ensure clients engage to the best of their ability and reach their full potential. Zoe’s focus for provision is on increasing independence and participation in activities of daily living, whether this relates to making a choice or becoming independent within community environments. She is confident with contributing to Educational Health and Care Plans, Continuing Health Care assessments and multi-disciplinary meetings.
Zoe has a varied toolbox of skills covering 24 hour postural management, functional vision, upper limb rehabilitation, community access, fatigue management, engagement and participation, sensory-based learning/cognition and adapted equipment provision.
Zoe has experience with assessing learning environments from a variety of perspectives including sensory processing, vision, posture/seating and adapted equipment to increase and promote autonomy and independence. In addition, Zoe has successfully supported clients to transfer independence strategies learnt within OT sessions into a work environment and provided training for workplace staff. Zoe has developed excellent communication skills and is able to liaise effectively with parents, carers, professionals and external agencies.
Zoe is considered a confident and calm individual who brings a proactive and creative approach to her practice, quickly getting to grips with a client’s functional needs and understanding challenges from their perspective.
Zoe has a 1st Class Honours degree in Occupational Therapy and is Sensory Integration Level 1 trained. This enables Zoe to support clients, parents, teachers and other professionals to further understand sensory processing and how this may be impacting on the client’s ability to learn and thrive in their meaningful occupations. Zoe is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section in Independent Practice.
