Vicky's Bio

An excellent client advocate providing specialist services for Adults for Medico-Legal cases, Private Clients and families, Local Authorities, Statutory Services, Businesses, Charities and Housing Associations.

Vicky is truly determined to provide the very best therapeutic experience for every client to ensure their potential for recovery is recognised, respected and supported. Placing the person at the very core of all aspects of Occupational Therapy is essential to Vicky as she believes in a person-centred approach to get the very best out of therapeutic interventions. Vicky understands that everyone is unique and likes to discover the many threads that make the person who they are, to learn about the things that motivate them, and their aspirations. No matter how diverse the needs, Vicky will always strive to ensure the individual's voice is heard, she will advocate for them as required, and help to identify and minimise any barriers they may face on their onward journey.

Rehabilitation is where Vicky's passion and experience really shine. From upper limb rehabilitation programs, self-care, kitchen skills to money management and memory strategies, Vickys broad ranging experience supports skill acquisition, re-learning and compensatory strategies. A confident communicator with a natural ability to build professional and therapeutic relationships, her compassion, empathy and patience place people at ease allowing them the therapeutic space they need to feel empowered and in control.  She is adept at working with challenging behaviours, and is well aware that the strengths and needs of individuals are often complex and bewildering, with a multitude of barriers to contend with.

Vicky has gained great insight into the impact and management of catastrophic brain injury, its sociological, psychological, neurological and outward physical effects on people's lives. She also has a sensitive working knowledge and understanding of the more invisible deficits that acquired brain injury can cause, crucially empowering clients, helping families become more aware and helping manage everyone’s future expectations.

Vicky has an interest in Ayres Sensory Integration theory and studied the level 1 post graduate certificate in Sensory Integration, Foundations and Neuroscience. This interest was born following her final practice placement (contemporary paediatrics) at a school for children with learning difficulties and the curiosity continued when Vicky noticed that sensory deficits were not often considered following ABI.

Testimonials

" Working with Vicky is a pleasure.  Working with our mutual client,  we are having to devise innovative and very unusual methods of presenting therapy and rehabilitation and Vicky has risen to the challenge.

Vicky has had to call upon all the skills and a wealth of knowledge in supporting our client, and with challenges in communication, she has certainly gone above and beyond any expectation, to ensure the team are fully informed and supported.

Vicky maintains a high level of professionalism, despite many challenges along the way, and we are slowly starting to see progress that will be to the benefit of the client, the family and the team.. "
