Rhi's Bio

With a proven track record of excellence in paediatric Occupational Therapy, Rhi is an asset to any team she works with, providing specialist services for children for Medico-Legal cases, Private Clients and families, Schools & Colleges, Local Authorities, Statutory Services, Businesses, Charities and Housing Associations.

Known for her compassion, professionalism and passion, she has over 18 years experience working with children and young people with complex physical, cognitive, environmental, sensory and social needs both in the UK and Kenya across a range of clinical and non-clinical settings.

As many of her clients present with co-existing diagnoses, Rhi is experienced in undertaking comprehensive assessments as part of a multi professional, multi agency team, whilst recognising the parent/carers as experts in their child’s needs.

Rhi has worked with a wide range of conditions, from Cerebral Palsy to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), showing her adaptability and skill. She is also experienced in implementing compensatory and rehabilitative treatment approaches including prescription of adaptive equipment, complex specialist seating, positive behaviour support plans and sensory diets. She is a certified assessor for children with potential Sensory Integration issues, refining her skills as a volunteer tester for the EASI (Evaluation In Ayres Sensory Integration) International Data Collection Project.

Her academic journey is impressive, with notable achievements including a 1st Class Honors degree in Occupational Therapy. Her dedication was recognized with the Maeve Groom Prize for Practice Placement, where she achieved the highest grades within her cohort for this aspect. Additionally, she obtained a distinction in Foundations and Neuroscience, underscoring her commitment to excellence.

Alongside her private practice work, Rhi is a Trustee and volunteer for ELI Project Wales, a charitable organisation which seeks to promote the social inclusion of families who have children and young people with additional needs, both in the UK and Kenya. This work has allowed her to glimpse the lived experience of having a child with additional needs and to address the isolation and social anxieties these families often face.

Testimonials

" Rhi is an exceptional OT, having great communication skills with myself as a Case Manager, the family and the rest of the MDT.

She always works in collaboration with others, including statutory services wherever possible.

Rhi will think outside the box when problem solving, and is always willing to engage in all areas of the litigation process, demonstrating great flexibility and adaptability.

I would absolutely employ Rhi's services on any of my cases and would recommend her to other Case Managers. "

" Rhi’s  work with our young people has been excellent. She is professional and approachable and always willing to answer queries or advise.  Communication with Rhi is clear and she takes the time with professionals , pupils and their families to ensure they fully understand the therapeutic approaches used. Her reports are clear and detailed with lots of achievable targets and strategies.

It has been a pleasure to work with Rhi over the last five years. "

" The OT centre made everything really straightforward and it’s a seamless process from start to finish. I would highly recommend this service to anyone with a child (or children) with sensory issues who are finding everyday life challenging.

Our OT, Rhi, was professional but maternal and instantly put our daughter at ease when they met. We felt totally reassured that she would cope well with the tasks of the assessment (which was carried out at our home) knowing that Rhi was attuned to our daughter’s tiredness levels, attention span and sensitivities. By the end of the assessment (which took a few hours) Rhi felt like part of the family and we were sad to see her leave! We’ve seen so many professionals in this field (not exclusive to occupational therapy) who have set off our daughter’s anxiety or that she has not taken to. It was so reassuring for us to feel that Rhi just instantly “got” our daughter and we could relax knowing the assessment wouldn’t have adverse effects on her that evening or in the days following. Any parent with highly sensitive or neurodivergent children will know what an absolute blessing that is!

The OT assessment and report have been so helpful in helping our family understand our daughter and also how to accommodate and support her. The process has given us context to our daughter's needs and it’s meant we have been able to hugely improve the quality of her day to day life. We’ve already seen some very positive improvements at home from implementing some of the recommendations from the report. None of which have been difficult! Just very straightforward and practical changes to routines and a few products that are being used daily e.g. cutlery and mobility equipment. We’ve found the report a great resource to refer back to and to share with caregivers and professionals for example teachers, therapists and educational psychologists. It’s comprehensive enough to be extremely helpful to everyone involved with our daughter’s care but also uncomplicated enough to understand as a lay person just getting to grips with sensory processing issues. It kind of demystified the whole thing for us and laid the groundwork for improving home life. "
