A hard working and highly skilled OT with over 10 years experience working with complex adult neurological cases, including Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Injury, Progressive Neurological Conditions and Low Awareness states. Lucy is passionate about her practice, excelling in the delivery of occupation based, goal driven therapy enabling her clients to achieve their goals and greatly improve independence and quality of life. She is described by colleagues as an excellent team player and asset to the MDT, being a genuine, caring, honest and reliable professional, building a good rapport with her clients, their families and associated professionals.

Lucy is confident in delivering client led functional assessments, goal-driven treatments and measurable outcome reporting. She uses a person centred approach, collaborating with the client, their family and the MDT on functional goals, making a positive impact on day to day functioning and quality of life.

Lucy provides a range of services from functional and standardised assessments/ reports to goal-oriented functional rehab’ programmes, cognitive assessments/ rehabilitation and re-education, fatigue management, upper limb and physical rehab’ programmes, advice on posture/ seating, home adaptations and equipment. She has excellent therapeutic handling skills and as an effective communicator is confident in the delivery of robust and effective training to family members, the MDT, care agencies and third-parties when required. In her previous role, Lucy was instrumental in the creation and delivery of regular mandatory training for nursing staff to help them understand the impact and implications of a brain injury thereby improving the patient’s care and experience.

Lucy is passionate about helping people understand the impact of brain injuries and has presented at the OT show in 2017 on ‘the invisible problems - living with a brain injury’. Lucy strives to do the very best for her clients and always endeavours to go the extra mile to improve their quality of care.

Lucy qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2008 at Leeds Metropolitan University with a masters in Occupational Therapy. She began to specialize in Neuro rehabilitation in 2009 when she started working at the Walton centre in Liverpool. Lucy started working in an NHS community neurological rehabilitation setting in 2018. In this role, Lucy assesses patients with complex neurological conditions in their own home environment, providing advice on aids, adaptations, complex seating issues, tonal management and manual handling,whilst also setting realistic functional goals in order to improve quality of life and independence. Lucy uses varied theoretical approaches including neuro developmental approach, compensatory and occupation based cognitive rehabilitation in order to promote recovery. Lucy has a special interest in fatigue management, cognitive rehabilitation and normal movement/recovery of upper limbs.

Lucy is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the British Association and College of Occupational Therapists.
