About Liz

A highly experienced occupational therapist with a wide range of clinical interests and significant experience in neurological conditions, including stroke rehabilitation, acquired and traumatic brain injury, long term conditions and alcohol related brain damage. Additionally, Liz has considerable experience working in mental health settings and brings a mental health lens to her work in neurological practice, supporting this important aspect of rehabilitation in neurological practice.

Liz qualified as an occupational therapist in 2008 with BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy with Sociology from Glasgow Caledonian University. In addition Liz holds a BA (Hons) from Sheffield University in Journalism Studies, from which she gained a high level of written and verbal communication skills. This is reflected in high quality report writing skills.

Liz enjoys working with people and being an advocate for her clients. She is described as passionate and dedicated to her work, demonstrating a commitment to multi-disciplinary working. She is highly organised and is adept at gaining the trust of professionals alongside her clients and their family.

Liz works in a person centred manner with collaborative goal setting as a key focus for rehabilitation outcomes to improve quality of life and maximise her clients’ independence.

Liz has worked across both Scotland and northern England, working in both inpatient acute and community rehabilitation settings, within both statutory services and the private sector. Liz has held roles with responsibility for service development and improvement, along with leading a team and clinical responsibilities.

Continuing professional development is professionally important to Liz and she actively seeks out training and experiences to ensure she is practising in line with the latest evidence base.

Liz is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). In addition, reflecting Liz’s wide clinical interests she is also a member of the RCOT Specialist Sections of Independent Practice, Neurological Conditions, Mental Health and Children, Young People and Families.
