Lindsay joined The OT Centre in January 2016, specialising in neurorehabilitation and spinal cord injury. Lindsay graduated with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and is currently studying a MSc in advanced professional practice. Passionate about neurology, she is also the lead OT for at the Welsh Regional Long Term Ventilation Service for neuromuscular disease in Cardiff.
As an enthusiastic, self motivated and diligent professional she thrives on new challenges. She is positive and approachable with a cheerful disposition. Lindsay actively listens, and grasps every opportunity to facilitate and maximise potential for clients to re-learn and recover through appropriate goal orientated treatment programmes. She provides honest and reliable feedback during all stages of the assessment and treatment process.
Having worked across neurological specialist services her entire career, Lindsay is highly experienced in working within stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic and acquired brain injury and long term neuromuscular disease including; Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron and neuroinflammatory conditions. Lindsay therefore has a breadth of experience across the spectrum of neurological presentations, from working with individuals who are in a minimally conscious state, to working with individuals who are highly functioning but presenting with behavioural or executive functioning difficulties.
As an independent practitioner Lindsay is able to provide a range of specialist services including; neurological and functional assessments, goal-oriented rehabilitation programmes, postural assessments and advice in relation to seating provision, assistive technology advice, education regarding positioning and tonal management, as well as advising on home adaptations, equipment and manual handling.
Lindsay develops effective achievable goal-oriented treatment programmes aimed at maximising a client’s rehabilitation potential. She regularly completes access and home assessments, providing extensive reports and plans including provision for equipment and adaptations. Lindsay is caring, compassionate and emotionally intelligent. She has a proven ability to establish a deep rapport and trust with clients, families, carers and other professionals. She understands the importance of collaborative interdisciplinary working and invests in forming strong relationships with all professionals involved in client’s care.
Lindsay is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists, the College of Occupational Therapy Specialist Section for Neurological Practice and is registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
