About Julia

Julia is a hard working and professional Occupational Therapist with international experience in the assessment, treatment and management of clients with neurological and complex conditions including; acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, polytraumas and progressive neurological conditions. Julia is passionate about rehabilitation and has contributed to the growing pool of research around the importance of early rehabilitation following injury. This work has been published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ).
Julia is passionate about improving quality of life through engaging clients in meaningful activities and enabling independence. Colleagues describe Julia as an asset to any team, bringing a comprehensive set of assessment skills, an enthusiastic and mature outlook, excellent communication skills, empathy and an ability to build rapport in the most difficult of circumstances.
She is confident in the assessment, treatment and evaluation of clients with complex neurological conditions. Using a person centred approach she supports clients along with their families, carers and the MDT to create meaningful goals. Julia has a particular interest in optimising motor performance and upper limb rehabilitation utilising theories based in occupational science and movement science. Other services include; functional assessment/rehabilitation programs, cognitive assessment and rehabilitation/re-education, fatigue management, home modifications and equipment provision.
Julia qualified in New Zealand and initially worked in the mental health sector giving her fantastic experience in building relationships with clients through engaging them in meaningful occupations. She then moved to Australia where she gained experience in community rehabilitation across a broad range of conditions before moving to the UK where she worked in a stroke rehab centre, a care home for clients with complex neurological conditions and in Europe's largest trauma centre managing a complex caseload and becoming a highly specialised trauma therapist.
Julia is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. She is also a member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in Independent Practice and Neurological Practice.
