Emma is an enthusiastic and conscientious Occupational Therapist specialising in the assessment and treatment of clients with acquired brain injuries and associated spectrum of conditions and difficulties. She is committed to high quality practice, always ensuring that client needs are at the centre of their care, underpinned by collaborative and integrated working with client family members and the MDT.
Truly passionate about Occupational Therapy, Emma is a keen advocate for her clients and their needs, striving to get the best outcomes using evidence based intervention. She understands that each individual's needs and circumstances are different and fundamental to who they are. Emma is practised, patient and compassionate when working with client and family expectations, empowering them to establish meaningful, relevant and realistic goals to greatly improve quality of life. She has great understanding of the impact of brain injury and its sociological, psychological, neurological and outward physical effects on people's lives.
Emma has a broad skill set in cognitive rehabilitation therapy, physical rehabilitation, 24 hour postural and seating management, spasticity management and equipment prescription. She specialises in the functional assessment and the treatment of cognitive and physical difficulties in clients who have limited communication and extensive cognitive needs.
A professional, committed, caring and reflective practitioner, Emma establishes a sound rapport with her clients, families and colleagues. She provides a range of services from assessment and reports to SMART goal-oriented rehabilitation programmes, cognitive rehabilitation, home adaptations, equipment and training. She is an effective communicator with a vast experience of functional treatments from washing and dressing to shopping and home based intervention.
Emma has gained clinical experience across a variety of settings, including acute, post-acute and specialist rehabilitation, including working as a senior specialist Occupational Therapist on stroke, ‘neuro’ and general ‘rehab’ units, providing rehabilitation for acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological conditions and general medical and orthopaedic rehabilitation.
In testament to her practice Emma has been tasked with and successfully trained teams of Occupational Therapists. She has been called upon to set out treatment plans and cognitive management plans for multidisciplinary teams.
Emma is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. In addition, Emma has received training and certifications for Cognitive Rehab Therapy as part of ‘Brainwave-R’.
