Charlotte is a very experienced Occupational Therapist specialising in adult neurorehabilitation. She is highly regarded in the private sector and leads the provision and development of OT services for the Shropshire Community Neurorehabilitation Team alongside her private practice through The OT Centre.
Charlotte is a professional, committed, caring and reflective practitioner who establishes a good rapport with her clients, families and their professionals. She has extensive experience working within a specialist Multidisciplinary Team, including Clinical Neuropsychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Medics and Nursing and Rehabilitation Assistants.
As an independent practitioner, Charlotte provides a range of services from assessment and reports to goal-oriented rehabilitation programmes, cognitive re-education, advice on home adaptations, equipment and training. She is an effective communicator and is well versed liaising with health and social services, private care providers, private case managers, employers and charitable organisations.
Charlotte qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1994 at the University of Leicester (Nene College, Northampton) with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy. She began to specialise in Neurological Rehabilitation in 1997 as a Senior Occupational Therapist at the The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust on the Alderbourne Unit, leading a team in the provision a range of services across acute and community settings.
In 1999 she took up the senior post on the Neuro Rehab ward at the Hayward Hospital in Stoke on Trent where she furthered her skills working with patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, and progressive neurological conditions. During her time on the ward she extended her skills in splinting and casting, training her team and playing an active part in the research paper "A comparative randomised controlled trial of botulinum toxin on lower limb spasticity following acute acquired severe brain injury". She has recently trained to become a Saebo assessor. Charlotte’s areas of interest in her current NHS post include fatigue management, cognitive rehabilitation with the use of strategies and assistive technology and vocational rehabilitation.
Charlotte is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in Independent Practice and Neurological Practice.
