Amy is a highly experienced OT specialising in adult neurorehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation. Amy has practiced extensively in both the NHS and independent sectors and has specialised in neurorehabilitation since 2005. She is a terrific team member and tremendous asset to the client MDT, bringing a positive, confident and proactive solution-focused approach. As the Senior 1 OT for the Neurorehabilitation Unit at the Wellington Hospital in London, she was recognised as one of the strongest members of a 130-strong team of OTs and further formally recognised by HCA International as ‘Employee of the Quarter’ and subsequently ‘Employee of the Year’.

Amy has worked with a wide range of neurological conditions including brain injury, stroke and trauma whilst gaining additional skills and qualifications in vocational rehabilitation. Skilled in occupational and neuro-specific assessments, Amy uses these as a baseline of function to predict rehabilitation potentials and plan for suitable and meaningful interventions.

Amy is described as a caring, supporting and encouraging practitioner and remains sensitive to the life changing events which often face her clients and their families. By ensuring individual values and meaningful goals are respected, she aims to optimise an individual’s engagement at all stages. She also understands the importance of integrated team working to successful rehabilitation outcomes.

Amy has developed a keen interest in Vocational Rehabilitation through working alongside clients at varying stages of their recovery.

She has gained a Postgraduate Certificate qualification in Vocational Rehabilitation and recognises the value this has added to her practice, including theoretical advances in cognitive rehabilitation and complex disability management. She is currently enjoying the challenge of undertaking her final research project to gain an MSc Advanced Professional Practice in 2018.

As a Senior OT in the Neurorehab Unit at The Wellington Hospital, she developed key services including a posture and seating clinic and client-led functional groups. Amy also headed and developed the Functional Restoration Programme for clients with long term conditions, incorporating Motivational Interviewing techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. While in this role, Amy received HCA International ‘UK Employee of the Year Award’ which recognised her development of client services and support and education to colleagues.

Amy has enjoyed recent experience of working as a clinical coordinator of personal injury claims, assessing individuals early rehabilitation needs. Analysing assessment information and implementing appropriate rehabilitation packages, Amy gained a deeper understanding in this area of work.

Amy is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in Neurological Practice and Work. She is also a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association.
