Our operating policy in respect of COVID-19 based on current UK Government Public Health and RCOT Guidance.
Principles
The welfare, safety and interests of our clients, our customers and our OT’s are our foremost concern.
We will continue to operate services for new referrals and existing clients.
Practice Safeguards
Our Occupational Therapists have signed individual 'Declarations of Compliance' in respect of their practice which will remain in effect until such time as Government Guidance suggests otherwise.
Signed Declarations will be made available as a matter of routine practice for New Referrals and will be made available to any client party on request. In summary, our Declarations of Compliance serve notice that the OT;
- will offer remote Assessment and Treatment/Intervention using platform independent video technology;
- is adhering to, and checking on a daily basis, Government and RCOT guidance;
- does not have COVID-19 or Coronavirus Symptoms in accordance with current documented symptoms and have not been in contact with anyone who has;
- will take their temperature on a daily basis;
- will make immediate contact with the Client or designated Client Authority in the event that they display symptoms or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 or Coronavirus symptoms;
Operating Practice for New Referrals
We will continue to take new referrals in the usual manner, either via the Contact page on this website or via telephone (01550 537 537 xtn1) or by email to enquiries@theotcentre.co.uk.
We will offer two Assessment Streams either “Interim Initial Assessment” or “Initial Assessment”;
New Referral - Interim Initial Assessment
A preliminary assessment, using video services, avoiding face to face contact.
Outcomes
A formal Interim Assessment Report, summarising findings, outcome and recommendations, including identification of constraints imposed and indications for further future assessment as necessary.
Indications
An Interim Assessment will be undertaken in place of an Initial Assessment where either the Client or the Occupational Therapist are subject to ‘isolation’ (as defined by Public Health Guidelines) or at the request of the Client or Referring Party.
Consent
Specific Consent will be sought from the designated Client Consent Authority and the Referring Party prior to Assessment.
New Referral - Initial Assessment
A face to face Assessment in accordance with our normal practice.
Indications
An Initial Assessment will be undertaken where neither the Client nor the Occupational Therapist are subject to ‘isolation’ (as defined by Public Health Guidelines).
Consent
Specific Consent will be sought from the designated Client Consent Authority and the Referring Party prior to Assessment.
Safeguards
The Occupational Therapist will contact the Client and the Referring party prior to the visit to confirm ‘isolation’ statuses.
Operating Practice for Rehabilitation and Consultancy
We will provide two streams of Rehabilitation/Consulting services based on the following approaches;
Remote Rehabilitation and Support
Provide continuity of care and input using video services, within established treatment plans, avoiding face to face contact.
Indications
Remote Rehabilitation and Support will be undertaken where either the Client or the Occupational Therapist are subject to ‘isolation’ (as defined by Public Health Guidelines) or at the request of the Client or Referring Party.
Consent

Client Facing Rehabilitation and Support
Face to face sessions in accordance with normal practice and established treatment plans.
Indications
Client Facing Rehabilitation and Support will be undertaken where neither the Client nor the Occupational Therapist are subject to ‘isolation’ (as defined by Public Health Guidelines).
