Gaynor Green has extensive experience and working knowledge of neurorehabilitation in both the NHS and Private sectors; it is this depth of knowledge coupled with her dedication and personable nature which elicits confidence in her clients and fellow professionals. As the former Therapy Lead for Christchurch Neurological Rehabilitation, Gaynor developed the OT, Physio, SaLT and Music Therapy MDT into a brilliant, functional team over three centres. She is described as well liked, efficient and always a pleasure to work with.

Gaynor qualified as an occupational therapist in 1998. Her expertise lies in the field of neurology and community rehabilitation, including working with adults who have traumatic brain injuries, acquired brain injuries, prolonged disorders of consciousness and progressive neurological conditions. She is also specialist in the treatment of physical deficits as a result of neurological trauma including upper limb, postural management and seating.

Gaynor has exceptional report writing skills and brings excellent verbal communication skills to the MDT and broader professional groups. Gaynor is a strong team player, recognising the importance of effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration in a person’s recovery.

Over the course of her professional work, Gaynor has developed competencies through a combination of practical experience, personal research, attendance on specialist training courses and postgraduate modules. She remains a creative clinician who enjoys reading and applying new research ideas into practice where appropriate.

This multifaceted approach to professional development has helped her develop incisive clinical reasoning skills which are essential for assessing and treating clients with complex needs, for working in a therapy team with coordinated goals, and for providing guidance to clients and family members.

In 2013 Gaynor took a consultant manager role in the independent healthcare sector. Here she developed a successful team that delivered neuro rehabilitation of the highest quality to individuals with various neurological conditions, including those with brain injury, prolonged disorders of consciousness, spinal cord injury, and technology dependent clients (ventilator/tracheostomy/enteral feeding). She also had responsibility for managing the staff team, plus the development of an organisational structure that provided a rehabilitation pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring a skilled and personalised programme for all clients.

Gaynor now utilises her clinical and managerial skills and experience for the benefit of her clients, and she is highly motivated to work collaboratively with them, and their families, to advance recovery and rehabilitation to achieve their desired goals. She is proficient at identifying the specific therapies and services her clients need which, if required, address care and support, therapy, accommodation, equipment, transport and social participation, vocational and leisure interests. As a compassionate practitioner, she is fully committed to ensuring her clients are provided with the opportunities they require to recover their lives after brain injury. She is experienced at preparing written reports with practical recommendations for progressing her clients’ situations.

Gaynor is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the BAOT.
