Gaenor is walking from Oxford to Birmingham for Stroke Association

It's 10 years this year ...

Helen Spencer, our Clinical Services Lead, had just started to build a neurorehabilitation practice in Wales and was working hard towards establishing The OT Centre as a service to be proud of.

Gaenor, Helen's sister, was living and working in Oxford for an inter-governmental not-for-profit aimed at solving problems in agriculture and the environment.

Gaenor picks up the story ...

In July 2010 I suffered a devastating and rare stroke that took us all by surprise and resulted in me being hospitalised for 6 months. The stroke left me with mobility, sight, speech and cognitive problems which I have fought hard to improve. It has been a long road to recovery and it has been tough at times, but I'm not done yet.

I now work for the Stroke Association which is a fantastic and special place and its people are passionate about improving the lives of stroke survivors like me.

In late 2017 I moved from Oxfordshire to Birmingham, so I am marking my stroke-aversary by walking between the two cities. I plan to walk along the towpaths of the Oxford and then Grand Union canals.
